Kadıdondurma, at 100 km distance to Edirne city centrum, 5 km to Meric, is Rumelian village with a population of 970.Up to today our village has been called as Edekoy, Kadidondurma or Kadikoy but the initial foundation name was recorded as Edekoy which was choosen by us,villagers fob its historical depth.

Even though there aren’t any  proper  documents in hand, it is possible to say that the passage of the Oguz Turks to the Balkans is in the 14th century.Peasant of this village name themselves as “Gacal” ,which word has a deep historical rote and meaning that is dating back to  European Hun’s.It is also possible to read many articles in Gagauz resouces and in some racist Turkish web sites  which claim that Gacal’s are Gagavuz origined people who acclaimed Muslim. 

In the articles that are mentioned above, authors ,in order to support a basis to their arguements, collate between Gagauz dialect and Gacal dialect.when we consider these studies that we see the two dialects are really resemble to each other at %99.

The village that was once settled on approximately 2 km’s northwest of the present enclave, at the banks of river Meric, until 1940-41 winter, had to be moved to the near villages at first , when it was devastated by the overflowed river waters due to the intense rainfalls.

For a few years, some of the villagers that were dispersed to directions of Alibey,Nasuhbey,Umerca,Meric (major Doganca), minor Doganca  and even Kesan sides, try  to vitalizate the Kadıdondurma village.When they request for the North side of the Kadikoy  to have settlement authorization , they only could achieve authorization for structures like coops and barns at the first pace.however,later on they also built their houses,as well.Edekoy villagers who leart that the village initiated to be re-constructed , alsowent there to settle on the North side of Kadikoy and they eventually had government maket his reunioned village official.

The village , after the second half  of the 1980’s had immigration to outside due to some reasons like distribution of the fields by means of inheritance or education facts.Today,  in our village,an elementary school and a library , 3 cooperations of irrigation are still actively working.Students, after completing their 1st,2nd,3rd,4th and 5th grades education in the village, continue their education at the elementary schools of the county seat…
